On Sunday, October 27, 2024, a master’s thesis discussion was held in the College of Arts Hall at the University of Kirkuk for Sarah Obaid Khalid Othman, a student in the Department of History. Her thesis was titled "The Position of Kurdish Emirates on the Ottoman-Safavid Conflict (1501–1520)."
The study examined the relationship between Kurdish princes and the Ottoman and Safavid states, as well as the desire of Kurdish princes to preserve Kurdish society amidst the conflict between the two powers.
The study concluded that the region's geographical nature has consistently hindered the establishment of an independent state throughout the ages.
The thesis was accepted with a “Satisfactory” grade.
