A Seminar at the College of Arts on the Social Role in Combating Extremism

Under the patronage of the President of Kirkuk University, Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Department of Arabic Language, the Unit for Psychological Guidance and Educational Counseling, and the Students' Activities Unit, held an awareness seminar on Monday, February 10, 2025, titled "The Social and Ethical Role of the University in Combating Extremism."

Lectures during the seminar were delivered by the Dean of the College, the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Koyistan Najm Al-Din Enja, and the Head of the Psychological Guidance and Educational Counseling Unit, Asst. Lect. Sinekhir Sabar Abdul Rahman.

The seminar covered media policies that emphasize the values of work, belonging, and loyalty to the homeland, highlighting the efforts of various social groups, particularly those excelling in science and professionalism. It also addressed the economic challenges facing impoverished groups and youth, aiming to reduce unemployment. It emphasized the importance of involving young people and marginalized communities in small productive projects and supporting them.

The seminar's goal was to highlight the role of educational and cultural institutions in promoting a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and acceptance of others. It also aimed at developing critical thinking skills among youth, raising awareness about ways to combat sectarian strife, and emphasizing the role of religious education in rejecting conflicts while underscoring the commonalities among all societal groups.
