College of Arts Holds a Scientific Symposium on the Importance of Science in Promoting Peace and Rejecting Extremism

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, the College of Arts/Continuing Education Division, in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and the Women’s Affairs Division of the Kirkuk Education Directorate, organized a scientific symposium titled “The Importance of Science in Promoting Peace and Rejecting Extremism” on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The symposium featured lectures by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, and Prof. Dr. Salwa Jarjis Salman. It focused on highlighting the challenges facing science, strengthening support for scientific research, and establishing a more robust connection between science and society. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of engaging with youth, discussing their problems, involving them in solving their issues, and addressing misconceptions to correct them effectively.

The symposium aimed to build bridges between scientists and young people to rectify misunderstandings, foster trust in scientists and their research, and raise public awareness about the significance of science. It also sought to strengthen the relationship between science and society.
