Dean of the College of Arts Participates in an International Seminar

The Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Omer Najm al-Deen Enja, participated in the international virtual seminar on "Violence and Bullying Among Students with Learning Difficulties: Prevention Strategies and Early Intervention."

In his speech during the seminar, which included professors and specialists from Jordan, Algeria, and Egypt, he stated that parents' responsibilities toward their children should not be limited to providing food, clothing, services, and financial support. The matter is far greater, involving the importance of both upbringing and education, whether at home or in the school setting.

He emphasized the need to recognize the seriousness of school bullying and work together to combat it. Schools must commit to providing a safe environment for all students, raising awareness about the dangers and harms of bullying, and promoting positive values while fostering a culture of tolerance and cooperation. This will ensure that students feel their school offers a positive and nurturing learning environment that supports their growth and development.

He warned that bullying could have long-term negative effects on students, potentially escalating into physical bullying, where students may be subjected to physical harm and injuries, leading to both psychological and physical deterioration. These effects can last for varying periods and may result in social consequences, such as student isolation, difficulty in interacting with others, loss of friendships, and deterioration in social relationships.

He stressed the importance of parents playing a vital role with their children at home, monitoring their interactions and behaviors. Educational supervisors in schools should also increase awareness efforts, especially at the start of the school year, as these initiatives are crucial for students' development of self-confidence and the ability to showcase their skills.
