College of Arts Hosts "Language of Dhad" Festival

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Kirkuk, in collaboration with the Kirkuk Culture and Arts Palace and the Kirkuk Writers and Literati Union, organized a two-day cultural and artistic festival titled "The Language of Dhad is Our Identity" to commemorate World Arabic Language Day.

The festival featured a recitation from the Holy Quran by student Ahmed Sultan and the performance of the National Anthem. This was followed by a speech by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Omer Najmuddin Inja, regarding the significance of the Arabic language and its vital role across nations.

Mr. Yousif Tayyib Salih, Director of the Kirkuk Culture and Arts Palace, delivered a speech on peaceful coexistence in Kirkuk and the role of the Arabic language in promoting it. Subsequently, the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kuistan Najmuddin Inja, spoke about the history, importance, and value of the "Language of Dhad" (Arabic).

The event also included a lecture by Mr. Moushi Boulos from the Kirkuk Writers Union on the aesthetics of the Arabic language, a musical performance by student Farman Ali Mohammed, and a theatrical play titled "The Language of Dhad Speaks," supervised by the Head of the Arabic Department. Furthermore, students of the department performed an anthem titled "The Language of Pride and Dignity" and distributed commemorative brochures. The festival concluded with the inauguration of an Arabic calligraphy exhibition, an art gallery, a bazaar, and a book fair in the college courtyard.
