The lecturer and manager of the Studies and Planning Division at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Metin Yilmaz Ezzedine Al-Bayati, participated in the dialogue table on the issue of adapting educational curricula in relation to climate change, which was organized by the National Democratic Institute.
The lecturer explained, “This dialogue table is part of a program that the National Democratic Institute is implementing in order to promote civil activism among women and youth,” entitled “Address Our Turn.” This program helps Iraqi youth of both genders alike address society’s priorities and promote constructive relations with members of parliament and industry leaders. The decision and local governments in six governorates, including Kirkuk Governorate.”
The Lecturer stated, “The Kirkuk Governorate team consists of 10 male and female volunteers from the governorate’s youth. The team works with local communities in the governorate for the purpose of identifying community issues and priorities. The team will facilitate and hold a series of community meetings between decision-makers and citizens for the purpose of discussing the issues that have been identified through communication.” With the local community, with the aim of reaching effective and real solutions to issues through constructive cooperation and open discussions.”
He added that the National Democratic Institute is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan organization that supports democratic institutions and practices in every region of the world through cooperation from the international network of volunteer experts.
