Awareness seminar at Kirkuk University on digital space and women

The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Agriculture organized an awareness seminar on digital space and women, enhancing security and reducing risks, with the attendance and participation of the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahim Muhammad, and all members of the college.

The seminar, which was held by the Women's Affairs Unit in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division at the college and the Community Police in Kirkuk, and based on the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in conjunction with the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, aimed to spread awareness among female members and students in universities and their affiliated formations, in the era of technology and digital communication, as the digital space has become an integral part of our daily lives. With the expansion of Internet use, it has become necessary to focus on enhancing digital security, especially for women, who may face unique challenges in this area. These challenges include electronic harassment, blackmail, and privacy violations. Therefore, it requires integrated efforts to protect women in the digital world, by educating society about the importance of digital security, and providing effective protection tools that help reduce potential risks.

The symposium recommended the necessity of activating the complaints box for women's affairs departments and units in universities and their affiliated formations, and working to pay serious attention to the complaints received by them, maintaining the confidentiality of the information received, reviewing the ministerial laws and regulations related to issues of violence, harassment, electronic blackmail and drug trafficking within the university campus, spreading community awareness to support legislation related to women's rights to obtain fair educational opportunities and suitable job opportunities, and preparing training programs to build the capacities of women and girls to confront violence and electronic blackmail.
