Awareness seminar at Kirkuk University on suicide

The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Agriculture organized an awareness seminar on suicide, its causes and methods of treatment, with the attendance and participation of a number of college students.

The seminar included a lecture given by the lecturer and head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Agriculture, Asst. Lect. Maha Ahmed Kamal, in which she explained the concept of suicide, which is killing oneself, and it is a tragic reaction to stressful life situations. There is no single reason behind any person's attempt to commit suicide, but there are factors that increase the risk of attempting suicide. Depression is considered the main risk factor for suicide, but there are many psychological and mental disorders, and other risk factors that can contribute to suicide.

She added that the Islamic religion has forbidden such an act, and treated it by referring to God and His wise book, as God Almighty says, "Call upon Me, and I will respond to you." And God Almighty also says: Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
