Master’s Thesis at the University of Kirkuk Examines: "Evaluation of Several Physiological and Immunological Effects of Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and Silymarin on Male Rats with Induced Liver Fibrosis"
The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Kirkuk examined a Master's thesis titled "Evaluation of Several Physiological and Immunological Effects of Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and Silymarin on Male Rats with Induced Liver Fibrosis."
The study, presented by the researcher Ali Hussein Mohammed, aimed to assess the efficacy of licorice root extracts (aqueous and ethanolic) in treating chemically induced liver fibrosis in rats, in comparison with the drug Silymarin.
The findings concluded that the extracts possess the ability to restore normal liver enzyme levels, reduce inflammatory markers, and repair cellular and histological tissue damage caused by the condition. The results confirm the direct preventive and therapeutic effects of licorice against liver fibrosis, with the ethanolic extract demonstrating higher efficacy.
