A Master's Thesis at the University of Kirkuk Discusses "Evaluating the Effect of Some Compounds Isolated from Pomegranate Peels on Beta-Lactamase-Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella spp. and Biofilm Formation"

The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Kirkuk discussed a Master's thesis titled "Evaluating the Effect of Some Compounds Isolated from Pomegranate Peels on Beta-Lactamase-Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella spp. and Biofilm Formation in Kirkuk City" by researcher Rehab Abdul Qadir Ali.

The results of the study showed that these two bacteria are among the most prominent causes of hospital-acquired infections, with high levels of antibiotic resistance recorded. The results also demonstrated the effectiveness of pomegranate peel extracts, especially the alcoholic extract, in inhibiting the growth of these bacteria, due to their content of active bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and phenols, indicating the possibility of utilizing them as a promising source of natural antimicrobials.
