 University of Kirkuk Achieves a New Global Milestone by Entering the “Leiden Ranking”
The University of Kirkuk has achieved a distinguished scientific accomplishment by entering, for the first time, the Dutch CWTS Leiden Ranking 2025, one of the most prominent global rankings that measure research performance and the quality of scientific publications of universities.
The President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, affirmed that “the university is moving steadily toward strengthening its international standing through scientific research and international cooperation, recording qualitative leaps in various research fields and global rankings.”
He added that “this great achievement represents an important step toward internationalization, while appreciating the efforts of researchers in all the university’s colleges and their role in enhancing the position of the University of Kirkuk within reputable international rankings.”
It is noteworthy that the criteria of the Leiden Ranking are based on globally indexed scientific publications in the Clarivate database, the quality and citation of these research outputs, as well as institutional and international collaboration in their production.
