College of Nursing at the University of Kirkuk Organizes an Awareness and Educational Seminar on Anti-Corruption Measures in Government Institutions

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Kirkuk, the respected Prof. Dr. Hiwa Sattar Saleh, the college—represented by the Continuing Education Division and the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, in collaboration with the Health Promotion Division at the Kirkuk Health Directorate—organized an awareness seminar titled "Osteoporosis: Causes, Treatment, and Nursing Care" on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

The seminar addressed the causes of osteoporosis and its associated risk factors, particularly the hormonal changes accompanying menopause, aging, calcium and vitamin D deficiency, and lack of physical activity. It also reviewed prevention methods, early diagnosis, treatment approaches, and the importance of healthy nutrition and appropriate physical activity to reduce the risk of fractures and complications.

Additionally, the seminar highlighted the role of nursing staff in preventing osteoporosis and caring for affected individuals through health education, promoting healthy behaviors, assessing fall risks, raising awareness among women and the elderly on ways to maintain bone health, and encouraging adherence to treatment plans.

The seminar aimed to enhance participants' health awareness regarding the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis, while emphasizing the importance of evidence-based nursing care to contribute to improving quality of life and minimizing health complications.
