Participation of a Faculty Member from the College of Nursing in a Master's Thesis Defense Committee at the University of Mosul / College of Nursing

Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaila Mohammed Ali chaired the Master's thesis defense committee at the University of Mosul on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, for the student Eman Tamooz Mahmoud Salih at the College of Nursing. The thesis was entitled, "Enhancing Nurses' Knowledge Through an Educational Program Based on Meleis’ Transition Theory for First-Time Mothers."

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured educational intervention based on Meleis’ Transition Theory in improving nurses' knowledge and self-efficacy.

A two-group quasi-experimental study was conducted, comprising a control group of 30 participants and an intervention (case) group of 30 participants from selected hospitals in the city of Mosul. Data were collected at three time points: pre-intervention, immediately post-intervention, and at follow-up.

The study group demonstrated a highly statistically significant improvement in knowledge and self-efficacy compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Knowledge scores increased immediately following the study intervention. Furthermore, the theory-based educational intervention proved highly effective in improving nurses' knowledge and self-efficacy, yielding immediate and relatively sustained effects. It is recommended to integrate structured, evidence-based educational programs into clinical practice to enhance professional competence and improve the quality of healthcare.
