On the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Women’s Empowerment Unit in College of Medicine, organized an awareness symposium in cooperation with the Continuing Medical Education Division on Thursday 10/26/2023 on Conference hall in the presence of the college’s dean, assistant professor Dr. Fakhr al-Din Najm Nasser, the administrative assistant, and a group of faculty members, college staff, and students.
The symposium included valuable scientific lectures presented by a group of teaching staff, including Professor Dr. Ali Adul Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalida Muhammad Amin, Assistant Professor Dr. Luay Shihab Ahmed, Assistant Professor Dr. Israa Abdel Karim Muhammad, Assistant Professor Dr. Kirmanj Ismail Bakr, and teaching assistant Dr. Iman.
The symposium also included lectures on the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer during pregnancy, and methods of preventive screening for gynecological cancers such as uterine and ovarian cancer that may accompany breast cancer.

The third year students explained how to conduct a breast self-examination through printed leaflets and the importance of seeing specialist doctors when there are symptoms for early diagnosis and treatment.
At the end of the symposium, recommendations were presented highlighting the necessity of providing modern equipment and advanced devices to contribute to early diagnosis and treatment of this disease in Kirkuk governorate.
