Pharmacology Branch:
The Branch teach pharmacology for the third-year students.
The Branch goals:
By the end of studying this course, the student will be able to:
1- Know the chemical basis of medicines and its effect on treating the changes that occur during the diseases.
2- Understand the mechanism of action of the medicine, the response and the effect of the medicine and the side effect of the used medicine.
3- Comprehend the drug interactions that occur when more than one drug is used at the same time, with the possibility of side interactions between the drugs and ingested foods.
4- Obtain any progress in the field of pharmacology from global scientific committees and follow up on the decisions and instructions of the World Health Organization, international pharmaceutical organizations and others for the purpose of delivering and providing new and advanced studies.
This Branch also aims to:
1- Deliver any update in the field of pharmacology to students, resident doctors, and postgraduate students. This includes all scientific and therapeutic aspects and complications that may occur when using any new and developed medicines.
2- Coordinating everything new in the field of drug discovery, manufacturing, and medical supplies and linking them to the clinical aspect when using a new drug for a specific disease. The effect of the medication must be monitored in all aspects, and special data must be recorded about the patient’s response and the occurrence of any complications or side reactions, in order to avoid or develop these used medications by research and studies.
