A management review meeting was held at the Engineering College Laboratory under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Chalang Akram Omar, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 17025:2017, which focuses on laboratory competence and accreditation. This meeting was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to support performance quality and ensure compliance with international standards in testing and measurement.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College, representing the senior management, along with the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, the Quality Manager, and the Laboratory Director.
During the meeting, the laboratory’s compliance with ISO 17025:2017 requirements was reviewed, covering aspects such as the efficiency of equipment and devices used, training and qualification of technical staff, documentation of operational procedures in line with accreditation requirements, and improving the work environment to meet quality standards. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the laboratory’s readiness for the next phase, development and expansion plans to ensure compliance with the latest standards, as well as challenges faced by the laboratory and appropriate solutions to ensure efficient operations.
The role of the Civil Engineering Department in supporting laboratory activities was emphasized by providing engineering expertise and modern technologies. A timeline was established to implement recommendations and monitor improvements to ensure the laboratory continues to deliver reliable and accredited services.
The meeting resulted in several recommendations, including strengthening cooperation between the laboratory and the Civil Engineering Department, upgrading equipment in accordance with the latest scientific advancements, organizing training workshops for technical and administrative staff to enhance performance, and following up on the necessary procedures for obtaining official international accreditation.
This meeting represents an important step toward establishing the Engineering College Laboratory as an accredited center for conducting tests and examinations in accordance with the highest global standards. It reflects the university’s commitment to providing an advanced scientific and research environment that serves students, researchers, and the academic community.
