In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The city of Kirkuk, the center of Kirkuk Governorate, is considered one of the oldest Iraqi provinces, located approximately 236 kilometers north of the capital Baghdad. Kirkuk is distinguished by its historical landmarks such as Kirkuk Citadel and Kirkuk Qishla, as well as its economic importance due to its rich oil and gas fields and fertile agricultural lands.
The College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk was established in 2005 in the city of Kirkuk as the first engineering college in the city. The college includes four departments: Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The college contributes through its academic staff in training and developing personnel working in various state institutions, providing engineering consultations, and supplying state departments and companies in Iraq with graduates capable of keeping pace with development in engineering and technology fields.
The College of Engineering has strategic plans to develop its various programs in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and international standards. This includes developing staff and curricula, equipping laboratories with advanced experimental devices and engineering software, establishing postgraduate studies and research and administrative units, and enhancing the academic and research role of its teaching staff. It also aims to improve students’ intellectual and scientific levels, discover their skills, strengthen cooperation with state institutions and civil society organizations, and provide community service in a way that supports the University of Kirkuk’s position in global university rankings.
