Postgraduate Studies Section

An Overview :
The  of postgraduate studies was established in 2012-2013, where postgraduate studies were opened in the Department of Arabic Language, with the specialization of  Master of Arabic Language / Literature. In the academic year 2017-2018 , the specialization of Master in Arabic Language / Linguistics was opened, and then the doctorate / literature was opened in the same department at the same academic year 2017-2018.  Then the postgraduate studies in the specialization of Jurisprudence and its Fundamentals were opened in academic year 2012-2018 in the Department of Qur’an Sciences and Islamic Education.


AdministrativeStaff:
The scientific committee in the Department of Arabic Language comprises of the committee’s chairman and the committee’s coordinator along with four members. While the scientific committee in the Department of Qur’an Sciences and Islamic Education includes the committee’s chairman and coordinator. As for the administrative section, it consists of the section’s head with two employees.

Section Tasks:
- Receiving the files of applicants to postgraduate studies and checking them by the specialized committee in the studies section.

• Issuing the administrative decrees of the accepted students.

• Organizing the files of the accepted students each according to his department and specialization.

• Issuing administrative decrees to appoint mentors and supervisors, and approving the titles of students' research after the university decree is issued by the university presidency.

• Following up examinations affairs with their specific times by the specialized committee of each department according to the schedules and doing the examination, examination affairs, preserving of documents and public correspondences.
  
  - Doing the statistics of the accepted and graduated students through the university's statistical system programme and the statistical system gate of the Ministry of Higher Education.
  
  - Following up students' affairs by monitoring administrative decrees for extending the period of study after the period has expired so that they can complete their research projects.

• Taking payment fees according to the courses of students and following them up to pay the fees at the beginning of each course. In addition, taking fees of the newly accepted students.

• When the student completes his research project, the specialist employee in the section of studies receives the thesis and then addresses the head of the department and the head of the graduate studies committee by letters and issuing the decrees related to that and sending them with the thesis to the scientific expert then revealing the plagiarism of the college and addressing the presidency with an official letter for electronic plagiarism to determine the percentage of plagiarism by the university presidency.
• Sending the thesis to the scientific expert after making a decree and addressing the head of the department to identify the expert, then sending it in an official letter.
  
  - After returning the thesis from the scientific expert, the specialized employee in the graduate studies section addresses the head of the scientific department through a letter to inform the student of taking the notes of the scientific expert.

• After completing the corrections of the scientific expert the specialized employee addresses the head of the department through a letter to form a student debate committee.

-  Issuing the administrative decree of the debate and then continuing to make corrections after the debate.

- Following up the student to complete the clearance form.
- Addressing the department by means of an decree to award the certificate to the student and to be included in the council of the college for approval as well as addressing the presidency with an decree through the council’s secretariat. After the approval by the university council secretariat, a letter is made by issuing a university decree for awarding the certificate to the student.

The Documents Required to Apply for Postgraduate Studies for the Academic Year 2021-2022

- A graduation document in which the average is affixed (number and written), and a graduation confirmation in which the graduation average and the first student’s average on the batch are affixed to the scientific department (for the first and second attempts and for the morning and evening studies) and the document is addressed to the College of Education for Human Sciences, Section of Postgraduate Studies. Also submitting the bachelor and master’s graduation documents for a PhD applicant, regardless the date of issue.

- Certificate of passing the English, computer and Arabic proficiency test (the certificate of any centre approved). Two letters of recommendation submitted by the professors of the applicant for the purpose of study (for Islamic studies only)

- Electronic form.

- The following forms: (1- Student data No. 500 (3 pages, 2 of which are on two sides) 2- Business sheet No. 501.  3- Commitment No. 504).

- Identity documents: civil identity (or national card if any), Iraqi nationality certificate, ration card, housing card and two colour photos.

Notes :
Documents are required for both general and private channel applicants.

For applicants applying to the privileges channels, they should attach the following forms with the above, each according to his case: (the families of the martyrs in relation to the previous regime and the popular mobilization No. 502, compensation form of damaged people of war operations, terroristic operations and military errors No. 700, political prisoners No. 5.3, people with disabilities and special needs No. 600.

- As for the governmental employee: he should bring a non- objection letter that includes the phrase in the following form: (the directorate has no objection to the employee from applying for postgraduate studies for the academic year 2021-2022 and granting him the study leave if he is accepted), the service summary, the employment decree, the decree to first start time with the job and an exception letter if his/her rate is less than (65).

- Accepted employees must bring the study leave within (60) days from the date of issuing university decrees for their acceptance, otherwise their acceptance will be canceled.

-The letter in support of the martyrs or prisoners foundation is addressed to the University of Kirkuk, College of Education for Human Sciences / Graduate Studies section, for the purpose of conducting issuing insurance.

- Preparing colour copies of the application forms and on one sheet for the forms that consist of two pages, as well as the supporting documents and photos.
- Completing the security clearance procedures and a commitment certifies that the applicant is not included with questioning and justice procedures.
- Applicants for postgraduate studies on the private expense channel are excluded from the age and average conditions (for non-employees only ).
