An Overview of the Department Establishment
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences in the College of Education for Human Sciences / University of Kirkuk was established, in implementation of the university instruction / Department of Scientific Affairs / Division of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, No. M 3/40633 on 08/20/2013 / Studies and Planning Department and the College Administrative Order No. 7/26/4553 on 5/9/2013.
In the academic year 2013/2014, the department started the first stage with (112) students divided into two sections. The curricula designed for the corresponding departments were taught to students in educational and psychological subjects specialized in psychology. The curricula enable the students to possess general skills in the aspects of counseling and mental health. Assessment, management, teaching methods, environmental awareness and educational planning were taken as a basis of knowledge that qualifies them to be specialized in all fields of general psychology later. In addition, the department hopes to open higher studies in the fields of education, psychology and teaching methods in the future.

Trying to make use of scientific and psychological knowledge to identify the effective methods in transferring knowledge to the educational, social and psychological aspects for what serves the student and the various segments of society.
Mission
Spreading psychological and educational awareness in all sectors of society and state departments by holding seminars, workshops, studies and joint cooperation mechanisms.
Goals and Objectives

Professional preparation for students of the departments of sciences and humanities in the College of Education.
Objectives:
1- Preparing teachers to teach the educational and psychological subjects in teacher training institutes and preparatory schools.
2- Preparing qualified educators to practise counseling in educational institutions
3- Preparing educators qualified to work in the field of community service and various state institutions.
4- Providing the colleges of education with qualified instructors to teach the educational and psychological subjects in the departments of educational psychology and other departments.
