About Turkish Deptment

The department of Turkish language was established in the academic year 2005-2006. In the first academic year, eleven students were enrolled in the department. In the next year, seventeen students more were enrolled in the department. All of these students had a central admission to the department. In other words, they applied to the department of Turkish language through Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. However, from the academic year 2007-2008 until the present academic year, 2020-2021, students started to apply to the department directly.

The department plans to provide the best scientific programs in Turkish language.

The Message of the Department

The department prepares the best teachers majored in Turkish language.

Goals of the Department

  • The department has classes in Turkish language and literature. The classes in Turkish language will discuss different contents and levels of Turkish language. At the same time, the classes in literature will discuss different eras in Turkish literature, such as Turkish old literature, Turkish modern Literature, and Turkish folklore literature.
  • The department also has classes in psychology. Significantly, these classes will give students major instructions and theories which will help them to understand the psychology of their students and comprehend their reactions.
  • The department presents classes in methodology. These classes will discuss recent theories in methods of teaching and their implementations inside classrooms.
  • The department focuses on providing the community with elementary and secondary teachers majored in Turkish language.
  • Providing the community with interpreters in Turkish language is another goal of this department.
  • The department also works to prepare researchers interested in Turkish language and literature.
