Academic Description of the Department
The History Department program at our college seeks to provide an outstanding educational and research environment aimed at studying and understanding the human past, and analyzing historical events to draw lessons from them. The academic description focuses on enabling students to master precise historical methodology and scientific research in the fields of Ancient, Islamic, and Modern and Contemporary History. This successfully qualifies graduates to work in the sectors of education, cultural and heritage institutions, and research centers, with a solid scientific spirit that keeps pace with contemporary knowledge developments.

First Stage
It includes foundational courses for the study of history, focusing on the history of ancient Iraq, the history of Arabs before Islam, the era of the Prophet's mission, an introduction to the study of history, and educational foundations to build a solid knowledge base.
Second Stage
Expansion in the study of Islamic history (Umayyad and Abbasid eras) and the history of Europe in the Middle Ages, in addition to supporting educational courses such as school administration and educational psychology.
Third Stage
Focusing on the modern history of the Arab world, the history of Europe in the Renaissance, the history of the Ottoman Empire, and teaching methods, along with the launch of field observation programs for the student's educational preparation.
Fourth Stage
The stage of in-depth specialization in contemporary history (Iraqi, Arab, and Global) and the philosophy of history, in addition to actual practical application in schools and the completion of academic graduation researches.
