Academic Description of the Department
The Geography Department program at our college seeks to provide an outstanding educational and research environment aimed at studying physical and human phenomena, and analyzing the reciprocal relationships between humans and their environment. The academic description focuses on enabling students to master spatial analysis skills and utilize modern geographical techniques in the fields of Physical Geography, Human Geography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This successfully qualifies graduates to work in the sectors of education, urban and regional planning, statistics, and environment, with a spirit that keeps pace with contemporary knowledge developments.

First Stage
It includes foundational courses in geographical science, focusing on the principles of physical and human geography, cartography and surveying, and a general introduction to the history of geographic thought to build a solid knowledge base.
Second Stage
Expansion in the study of climatology and meteorology, soil and plant geography, and population and urban geography, in addition to supportive educational courses and practical training in reading and analyzing geographical maps.
Third Stage
Focusing on geomorphology (landforms), geography of water resources, economic geography, and an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), along with the launch of field observation programs for educational preparation.
Fourth Stage
The stage of in-depth specialization in remote sensing applications, geography of Iraq, and regional planning, in addition to field practical application in schools and the completion of academic graduation researches.
