About the Department
The Department of English Language was established in the academic year (2002-2003) alongside the founding of the College of Education for Human Sciences. Its primary goal is to prepare qualified teaching staff in English for secondary education. Since the academic year (2005-2006), numerous batches of students have graduated from the morning study program. Evening study was introduced in (2003-2004), with the first batch graduating in (2006-2007). Although evening studies were temporarily suspended university-wide, they were reinstated in the academic year (2012-2013). The department currently houses 13 faculty members and maintains a unique identification code separate from other departments within the college.

The Department of English Language at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Kirkuk, strives to provide a comprehensive academic and professional program that demonstrates leadership and excellence in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). By implementing modern teaching methods, techniques, and trends, our graduates become highly qualified and efficient teachers for intermediate and secondary school students. The department also aims to foster an academic environment that encourages scientific research in English language, literature, and pedagogy, enriching the expertise of faculty members to meet labor market demands and serve the community.
Department Mission
The English Department serves as a vital heart working diligently to prepare competent cadres capable of advancing knowledge in English language, literature, and teaching methodologies for secondary education. Students are trained to lead the new generation through academic programs accredited both locally and internationally. By utilizing modern educational tools and scientific research, the department aims for comprehensive human and social development, enhancing communication with both the Arab and international worlds.

- Keeping pace with scientific, academic, and technical developments to provide comprehensive knowledge of English literature and teaching methods.

- Supporting faculty and students in conducting theoretical, experimental, and comparative research in English language and literature.

- Providing community service through training courses and scientific consultations in cooperation with the Continuing Education Department.
