About the Department

The Department of Turkish Language was established in the academic year (2005-2006), initially comprising only the first stage with (11) students admitted through the central admission system. In the academic year (2006-2007), (17) students were admitted, also through central admission. From (2007-2008) onwards, the department shifted to a direct admission system, which continues to this day.

Strategic Vision

The Department of Turkish Language seeks to provide advanced, high-quality education to graduate teachers and academics in the field of Turkish language and literature. We aim to transform the department into a leading academic unit that meets the requirements of the field, utilizes the latest science and technology, and maintains international influence. Furthermore, we provide advanced educational programs focusing on comprehensive language learning (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), while enhancing students' understanding of Turkish history and culture through the study of traditional and modern literature.

Department Mission

To research and study the written and oral products of Turkish language and literature, which are fundamental elements of Turkish culture from ancient times to the present. We are committed to sharing acquired knowledge with society, playing a prominent role in cross-cultural relations, and training specialized teachers and professionals in this field.

Our Scientific Goals

Cognitive and Educational Dimension

  • Introducing students to the Turkish language and its branches (Language and Literature). In language, students learn linguistic levels, and in literature, they study all eras (Ancient, Modern, and Folk Literature) due to the language's role as a tool for social interaction and national unity.
  • Preserving language as a repository of heritage and a bridge from the past to the future, benefiting from the intellectual, emotional, and social legacy of scholars and thinkers.
  • Developing creative and innovative individuals, while introducing them to fields of psychology to understand the behavioral aspects of their future students.
  • Preparing Turkish language specialists for teaching positions in both public and private schools.
  • Training specialized cadres in the field of translation for government institutions and other sectors.
  • Preparing researchers to conduct scientific studies in the field of language and literature.
  • Exchanging expertise and information with local and international universities through seminars, conferences, and workshops.
