Rainfall and water harvesting in iraq

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the Geography Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, held a scientific symposium entitled ((Optimal exploitation of rainfall using water harvesting methods and methods in Kirkuk Governorate)) on Tuesday, 2/20/2024.

The lectures at the symposium were given by:

 1- Dr. Raed Ahmed Youssef

2- Assistant teacher Mustafa Fadel Alwan

The symposium discussed the amounts of rain that fall on Iraq, the waste that occurs due to its lack of optimal exploitation, and the methods and methods that can be used for the purpose of investing and preserving this water by harvesting this water and exploiting it in agricultural matters and the daily lives of citizens.

The two lecturers also reviewed a group of experiences from several countries that used water harvesting methods, which played an optimal role in exploiting the amounts of rain falling on their countries in agriculture, as well as increasing groundwater reserves through this method.

The two lecturers revealed, through the geographical distribution of rainfall locations in Iraq, the possibility of exploiting these locations to harvest water, whether mountainous or the western plateau, as well as the southern regions, and exploiting this water to increase Iraqi water reserves.FB IMG 1708696104323جغرافيةFB IMG 1708696101889جغرافيةFB IMG 1708696113198جغرافية
