Scientific symposium on electronic blackmail from risks to solutions

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Directorate of Technology and Information Technology at the Ministry's Agency for Intelligence and Investigations Affairs - Cybercrime Department, organized a specialized scientific symposium on "Electronic blackmail from risks to solutions" within the framework of efforts aimed at enhancing digital awareness and protecting individuals from electronic threats. The symposium addressed the definition of the concept of electronic blackmail and the most prominent methods used by blackmailers to lure victims, with a focus on the legal procedures followed in confronting these crimes. Digital protection mechanisms were also addressed, as well as the need to educate individuals about the safe use of the Internet and social networking sites, in addition to reviewing some real cases that the competent authorities have dealt with. The lecturers from the Cybercrime Department stressed the importance of immediately reporting any blackmail attempts, emphasizing the pivotal role played by academic institutions in spreading digital awareness among students and society to limit the spread of this dangerous phenomenon.

 For his part, the Dean praised this important initiative, stressing that the college always seeks to enhance students' awareness of digital risks and urge them to deal with caution and responsibility with technical means, calling for repeating such seminars due to their importance in protecting society from emerging electronic challenges.
