Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohieddin, the College of Education for Human Sciences organized on 4/14/2024 a solemn memorial ceremony to commemorate the Anfal tragedy on its 36th anniversary that Iraqi Kurdistan witnessed in the eighties of the last century. The ceremony was attended by students and faculty members from various sections.
The ceremony included an opening influenced by the Holy Qur’an, followed by words of mercy for the souls of the martyrs, after which the importance of holding this memorial was highlighted to ensure that this painful tragedy is not forgotten. Many artistic and cultural performances were presented that reflected the impact of the tragedy on the Iraqi culture and heritage as a whole. The participants also presented during The ceremony had poignant words and stories about the effects of Anfal on public life and how to overcome the psychological and social effects of that tragedy. They also called for continuing to work on documenting that dark period in the history of the Kurdish people and striving to achieve justice and accountability. In turn, His Excellency praised the important role that these memorials play in preserving The history and memory of the Kurdish people and the necessity of recording these sad historical events so that their memory does not disappear. Finally, through the words that were presented, the message of love and solidarity was conveyed from the hearts of those present to those whose hearts were saddened by this eternal calamity.
