A scientific workshop entitled “Parts of Speech and the Importance of Mastering Them in Constructing Correct English Sentences” was held under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali. The workshop was organized by the Continuing Education Division and delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Iyad Salim Mansour.
This workshop comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to enhance language skills and elevate the academic and cognitive performance of students, researchers, and individuals interested in the English language. Parts of speech are considered fundamental pillars of sound linguistic structure and a crucial starting point for understanding and accurately using grammatical rules.
The workshop addressed several key themes, most notably:
- Introducing the parts of speech in the English language and the functions of each category.
- Explaining the integrative relationship among these categories in constructing grammatically correct sentences.
- Highlighting common errors resulting from insufficient knowledge of parts of speech.
- Presenting practical examples that reinforce understanding and enhance writing and speaking skills.
