Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, The College of Basic Education, the Women’s Empowerment Unit, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, organized an important awareness symposium entitled “The phenomenon of harassment, its causes and treatments.” This event comes within the framework of the college’s efforts to enhance communication with its university community. It aims to raise the level of awareness among college students, faculty members, and employees about the seriousness of the phenomenon of harassment.
The lecture was presented with the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Sakina Ali Karim, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Mr. Ali Abbas Dhafar, Head of the Psychological Unit in the Kirkuk Health Department. In her lecture, Professor Sakina Ali Karim sheds light on various aspects of this phenomenon, trying to analyze its causes and provide effective treatments to address it. The symposium touched on understanding multiple types of harassment, which include verbal, extracurricular, and physical harassment. Clear definitions were provided for each type, highlighting the harmful psychological and social effects that may result from these behaviors. The importance of raising awareness of all forms of harassment and how to confront them was stressed, stressing that these actions are unacceptable and contradict the values and behaviors of a healthy and safe university community.
Mr. Ali Abbas Dhofar also participates by providing advice and strategies in the context of the psychological unit. Organizing such seminars constitutes an essential part of the college’s contribution to building an enlightened university, as it promotes effective dialogue and awareness of community issues, and reflects the college’s commitment to achieving comprehensive development for its individuals and society as a whole.
