Scientific Workshop on the Future of Children and Their Right to Education at the College of Arts

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Arts, Kirkuk University, in collaboration with the High Commission for Human Rights / Kirkuk Office and the Human Rights Unit, held a scientific workshop titled "How Wars and Conflicts Affect the Future of Children and Their Right to Education."

The workshop featured presentations by Dr. Sarood Mahmood and Professor Dr. Salah Arabi, who discussed the importance of strengthening legal protection for children in conflict situations through the implementation of relevant international agreements, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The speakers also emphasized the need for international cooperation to ensure the protection of children in conflicts and the significance of providing education during crises, such as through the establishment of temporary schools and mobile educational programs.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of enhancing cooperation between international and local organizations to ensure the provision of education during crises, as well as to raise awareness about supporting children affected by conflicts through providing psychological and social services.
