The Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omer Najm Al-Deen Enja, participated on Thursday (December 12, 2024) in an international virtual scientific seminar titled "Economic Rights of Disabled Women: Breaking Barriers, Challenges, and Solutions."
In the seminar, where the dean delivered a speech, emphasis was placed on finding the best solutions to ensure the rights of people with disabilities, protecting them from violence and unfair discrimination, and providing them with quality education and decent living conditions with equal wages to those of able-bodied individuals. The seminar also highlighted the need for legislation addressing these issues and educating society on how to deal with people with special needs without gender-based discrimination.
The seminar aimed to focus on and refer to the practical application of the Persons with Disabilities Law No. 38 of 2013, enacted by the Iraqi government. It emphasized the government’s commitment and attention to this matter, seeking to provide maximum protection and care for people with disabilities. The law aims to enhance communication with them, meet their needs, offer medical services, and assist them in finding employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
