The Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Omer Najm_Aldeen Enja, participated on the evening of Thursday (September 12, 2024) in the international scientific symposium titled "Women with Disabilities in the Digital World: Empowerment, Challenges, and Sustainable Solutions."
In his speech during the symposium, which witnessed the participation of professors and specialists from Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco, the Dean emphasized the necessity of utilizing all human capacities in community service, regardless of gender, race, or color.
The Dean pointed out that the goals of sustainable development cannot be achieved unless all human potentials are utilized and directed for the betterment of society—men and women, young and old, healthy and disabled, whether they live in rural or urban areas. Particularly in the digital age, there are greater opportunities for women with disabilities to play a distinguished role in the fields of science, education, and culture.
He also highlighted the presence of international calls from global organizations and international and local laws that seek to find successful ways to rehabilitate and integrate people with disabilities into society, in order to prevent discrimination and segregation among members of the community.
The Dean stressed the need for everyone to have a share in the digital world, and that this philosophy aligns with the principles of Islamic law, as stated in the verse: "For men there is a share of what the parents and relatives leave, and for women there is a share of what the parents and relatives leave, be it little or much—a mandatory share" (Quran 4:7). The article "Al" in Arabic is inclusive, covering all men and women, whether healthy or disabled, without discrimination between them. These are fundamental principles for achieving sustainable development goals.
