The Dean of the College of Arts participates in an international scientific symposium on issues of feminist disability

On Monday, August 19, 2024, Professor Dr. Omar Najm Al-Deen Enja, Dean of the College of Arts, participated in the international online scientific symposium "Feminist Disability Issues in Scientific Specializations."

At the symposium, the Dean emphasized the need to increase education and attention to the practical aspect of giving significant importance to the inclusion of people with disabilities in areas that concern them, especially women. He pointed out that this is necessary to ensure fairness and prevent discrimination, as well as to rehabilitate them on the one hand, and on the other hand, to benefit from their experiences and capabilities.

The Dean noted that educational institutions need this group to complete the educational and pedagogical process and to provide the best scientific services to students through them. He explained that Western universities show interest in the female element among people with disabilities, and this experience should be utilized.

He added that Iraq has advanced legal legislation that can be relied upon to address such issues, as the law requires various state ministries to fulfill a set of obligations on how to spend on this group.

The Dean of the College of Arts confirmed that the Iraqi government has developed a plan to allocate seats in postgraduate studies for people with disabilities so they can practice their teaching work or work in laboratories, educational centers, or research centers.

The symposium witnessed the participation of professors from Iraq, Turkey, Algeria, Sudan, and Morocco.
