Seminar at the Faculty of Arts on Geographical Thought in the Middle East and Contemporary Conflict Transformations

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Kirkuk hosted a scientific seminar titled "Geographical Thought in the Middle East and Transformations of Contemporary Conflict."

The seminar featured lectures delivered by Dr. Bassem Mahmoud Ali and Assistant Lecturer Yassin Miqdad Majeed. The sessions explored the profound shifts in geographical thought regarding the Middle East, moving beyond traditional descriptive approaches and geopolitical positioning toward an in-depth analysis of contemporary conflicts and their interconnections.

Furthermore, the lecturers highlighted that the region is now viewed as a highly complex and diverse "mosaic" environment—encompassing ethnic, religious, and sectarian dimensions. This complexity has turned the region into a theater for continuous conflicts aimed at rearranging spheres of influence.
