Dean of the Faculty of Arts Participates in a Scientific Symposium on Restorative Justice and Juvenile Mental Health

Prof. Dr. Omer Najmuddin Inja, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kirkuk, participated in the international scientific symposium titled "Restorative Justice and Juvenile Mental Health: Towards a Humanistic Approach to Reintegration," which featured the participation of academics from various Arab countries.

The Dean delivered a lecture titled "The Role of Educational and Pedagogical Institutions in Restorative Justice and its Positive Impact on the Mental Health of Staff." In his presentation, he emphasized that educational institutions serve as a fundamental pillar in implementing restorative justice by adopting a relational approach that fosters a sense of belonging and meaningful accountability, rather than relying on exclusionary punishment.

He noted that restorative justice aims to repair the harm resulting from misconduct, build a positive community, and promote values of moral responsibility. He also highlighted the necessity for these institutions to serve as environments that nurture positive relationships, aiming to reduce conflicts and enhance safe climates within societies.

Furthermore, the Dean pointed out the importance of encouraging dialogue-based methods and activating educational values through the achievement of "educational justice." He stressed the need to reduce disparities between educational institutions to ensure a fair environment, which serves as an essential gateway to broader social justice.
