The Department of English was established in 2024 to address the growing demand for specialized graduates in the field, in light of the rapid developments witnessed by Iraq and the world at large. Since its inception, the department has undergone radical transformations across various academic and administrative levels.
A cadre of distinguished faculty members was selected to provide high-quality education, leading to a significant increase in student enrollment—a reflection of the high demand for this specialization. The curriculum has been modernized to include diverse, contemporary subjects that align with market needs and the latest academic advancements. Furthermore, the department offers both morning and evening study programs, providing students with the flexibility to choose schedules that suit them. The duration of study is four years, after which graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature. This degree qualifies them to work in various fields, such as translation, education, media, and administration.

The expected outcomes are to enable students to refine their linguistic repertoire across various disciplines, including linguistics, literature, and related branches, and to work efficiently in academic and professional environments that require high-level English language proficiency.
