The Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment is considered one of the scientific departments of a mechanical nature. Therefore, the department works to graduate a scientific cadre specialized in the design and manufacture of machines, pullers, and various agricultural equipment, such as machines used for deep plowing and opening harrows under the surface of the soil, as well as seeding machines that suit the conditions of the southern region, in addition to studying the performance of tractors. Field crops to determine the best performance and the lowest amount of fuel consumption in a way that is appropriate to the conditions of the region, as well as studying the performance of agricultural machinery and its impact on the production of field crops, which contributes to the development of agricultural production in the country. Therefore, many of the department’s graduates have contributed, for various years, to the development of agricultural and mechanical machinery and equipment for the state’s industrial and agricultural institutions. The department currently includes different types of agricultural machines and machinery of different origins, in addition to many plows and machines for various purposes manufactured within the department for the purpose of training students on them and increasing their ability to work on these types of agricultural and mechanical machines. The department includes a workshop for preliminary studies, equipped with machines, instruments, and tools for the purpose of teaching students, in addition to laboratories such as the engine laboratory and soil mechanization research. The department also includes a studio number 1, which is used to teach engineering and industrial drawing for all departments of the college, in addition to three halls for preliminary studies and a hall for postgraduate studies.
