The President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, opened an agricultural festival on the occasion of National Afforestation Day, with the participation of the representative of the College of Agriculture/Hawija, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdel Moein Shabib Hamad, and the presence of the Director of Kirkuk Municipalities, Engineer Aram Ali Muhammad, and a large gathering of associates and students.

Professor Dr. Khaled Khalil Ahmed, Dean of the College, said that the festival came to introduce the environmental importance of planting plants in general, and evergreen trees and shrubs in particular, in improving and softening the surrounding atmosphere and reducing its pollution. He indicated that the festival aimed to encourage and implant the spirit of initiative in the hearts of students and provide them with the skills of planting trees and working within One team.

The festival included a display of various types of seedlings, roses, palm trees, and a number of agricultural equipment, fertilizers, and seeds of various types and types. The Kirkuk Municipalities Directorate with its formations in the districts and districts, the Department of Desertification and Forestry, the Debs Project, as well as the Barzan Charitable Organization participated in the festival.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Higher Education designated March 12 as “National Afforestation Day” in conjunction with the initiative to plant five million trees and palm trees launched by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to combat desertification.
