Information Technology Department


About the Department:

The information technology department was established in October 2017 as one of CSIT's departments at the University of Kirkuk. Computer networking is an ever-evolving field because of the advancements in the applications that build on sharing information (e.g., internet applications). This field requires qualifiers able to maintain networks to work efficiently and handling system security effectively.

The Vision:

 The department's vision looks to graduates scientific experts on the networks systems (computers networks, mobile networks, sensor networks, etc.). Additionally, implement the networks mentioned above as an essential tool for human development on Information Technology (IT). All these are achieved within four academic years program.

The Message:

Prepare qualifiers able to develop and maintain networks. Furthermore, they capable of integrating and interacting with practical and scientific in society.

The Objectives:

  • Preparing outstanding students capable of completing their postgraduate studies.
  • Consolidate theoretical and practical concepts and provide students with the necessary scientific expertise to work in networks' types. Additionally, learning the methods of building and managing any network.
  • Encouraging scientific research and supporting scientific and practical studies in various fields in network systems.
  • Preparing professionals in design, implementation, management and maintenance of networks (e.g., the Internet, wired and wireless local networks, mobile phone networks).
  • Due to the spread of the Internet applications of the concept of electronic governance, the department prepares teams able to deal with computer networks
  • Using and developing e-learning methods and educational tools. Additionally, paying attention to educational resources and technology and adopting the latest references and laboratory equipment.
  • Helping individuals and institutions achieve their desired goals by providing adequate information on technological solutions and how to apply them optimally.
  • Graduated students have the ability to manage IT resources for individuals and organizations.
  • Continuous follow-up of developments in IT and apply them (updates) to the concerned individuals and institutions.
  • Knowledge of social and ethical responsibilities of IT professionals.
  • Preparing outstanding students capable of completing their postgraduate studies and scientific research in the IT fields.
  • Improving the educational process, developing it, and adopting educational plans keep pace with society's needs in markets within quality standards.

 

Certificates Granted by the Department:

According to the curriculum, the study includes four full academic years consisting of theoretical and practical lessons. The student acquires the latest sciences, experiences, and skills in networks. After completing the requirements, the graduate student is awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Networks.
