The College of Agriculture organized a scientific seminar on adapting to climate change in agricultural applications, coinciding with World Soil Day. The seminar was attended by the Deputy Governor of Kirkuk for Technical Affairs, Engineer Ali Hammadi, the Dean of the College, Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, and a number of researchers specializing in this field. Engineer Ali Hammadi praised the role of Kirkuk University and the College of Agriculture for their continuous support of the agricultural sector in the governorate through the organization of seminars, conferences, and workshops that provide solutions to address problems in the country's agricultural sector. These initiatives positively impact crop yields in both quantity and quality. He also noted the college's practice of sending faculty members to agricultural fields and farmers to deliver lectures aimed at developing the agricultural sector. The Dean stated that the seminar aimed to explore the role of agriculture in the climate system and adaptation to climate change, review the potential of carbon in soil to contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change, and identify the impacts of climate change on water resources and how to adapt to them.
