
As part of its distinguished academic contribution and in reflection of the active scholarly role undertaken by the faculty members of the College of Basic Education at the University of Kirkuk in supporting scientific research and academic advancement, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Mahmoud Khalaf, a faculty member at the College of Basic Education, participated as a member of the examination committee for a PhD dissertation submitted to the College of Basic Education at the University of Diyala, entitled:
“Professional Thinking and Scientific Imagination and Their Relationship to Professional Competence among Secondary School History Teachers in Diyala Governorate.”
The defense was conducted in a rigorous academic atmosphere characterized by constructive scholarly dialogue and purposeful scientific discussions, which enriched the dissertation topic due to its incorporation of significant educational and intellectual variables that contribute to the development of teachers’ professional performance and enhance their ability to employ scientific imagination and professional thinking within the educational process.
The session witnessed the presentation of numerous academic observations and methodological recommendations aimed at improving the quality of scientific research. It also highlighted the importance of fostering professional competence among secondary school history teachers in a manner consistent with the requirements of contemporary educational and pedagogical development.
The participation of faculty members in dissertation examination committees reflects the academic standing of the College of Basic Education and its commitment to supporting scientific research and strengthening cooperation among Iraqi universities.
