Minister of Higher Education Announces the Launch of Applications for Central Admission
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Mousawi, has announced the launch of the electronic application form for central admission to public universities under both the General Admission and Martyrs’ Families channels for the academic year 2026–2027.
In this regard, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has stated that graduates of preparatory schools from the Scientific Branch are required to complete 50 choices, including at least 10 choices for institutes or polytechnic colleges. Graduates of the Literary Branch are required to complete at least 25 choices, including at least 10 choices for institutes or polytechnic colleges. Graduates of the Arts Branch are required to make 10 choices, including at least two choices for institutes or polytechnic colleges.
The Ministry further explained that graduates of the first round, as well as students eligible to participate in the second round, can submit their applications electronically through the Qadim Platform until Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The Ministry also called upon graduates of Schools for Distinguished Students and Baghdad College (English-medium students) to apply through the General Admission channel, as it serves as the unified application form for both channels. This is intended to facilitate the application process and ensure students’ admission to universities in accordance with the deadlines specified in the academic calendar, while maintaining all their relevant privileges. Students from Martyrs’ Families are requested to visit the Martyrs Foundation and its affiliated directorates to have their data officially verified.
Students can review the application procedures and verify their choices by consulting the Student Guide for the Academic Year 2026–2027, which provides detailed information about universities, colleges, departments, and institutes available for application. Admission will be determined according to the students’ stated preferences and competition based on their overall scores.
