This department was created on 2/19/2015, the Veterinary Public Health department is one of the scientific branches of the College of Veterinary Medicine and seeks through its teaching of several academic subjects to prepare veterinarians who have the ability to properly deal with animals as well as knowledge in many applied sciences of nutrition Animal and poultry management, genetics, statistics, computers, and the important thing is their ability to inspect food of animal origin

The objectives of the Veterinary Public Health department :

1- The branch aims to protect society from diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans through research and diagnosis of these diseases and work to find ways to control the health of communicable diseases and focus on the health of animal products. The branch teaches the following subjects (microbiology, immunity, pathology, Biometrics, pharmacology and toxins, viruses, epidemic diseases, common diseases between humans and animals, health of meat and animal products).

2- Graduating cadres to monitor quarries at border crossings with neighboring countries to control animal diseases and food entering the country and provide health and food security for our people, in addition to the participation of its professors in committees, studies, conferences, seminars and scientific research related to common diseases between humans and animals and their treatment.

3- The Veterinary Public Health Branch aims to graduate veterinarians qualified to practice the profession in more than one field, which is increasing daily, such as slaughterhouses, dairy factories, milk collection centers, management of poultry, sheep and milk cattle fields, calves fattening, and the use of knowledge obtained in improving animal health. The animal field and poultry fields affiliated to the college of the veterinary public health branch, in addition to that, the field of examining food products of animal source and providing health security by developing control over animal products, which leads to the provision of the most important nutritional element, which is protein, which plays an important role in the food security of our beloved country, where it enters Livestock is at the fore by controlling animal diseases and common and transmissible diseases between animals and humans that are transmitted through meat, milk and their derivatives. The branch also has an important and effective role in studying genes, leading to obtaining highly productive and highly resistant animals with the help of genetics that lead to improving animal health.
