Maternal and Neonate Health Nursing Branch

The Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing was established in the year 2020. The branch focuses on maternity and child health nursing, as well as child and adolescent health nursing.

Scientific importance

Enable students to gain scientific, theoretical, and clinical knowledge according to the College of Nursing's curriculum. Aside from scientific techniques and clinical skills training and how to apply them.

Curriculum subjects are taught to students from the third year level where they receive basic information and skills for caregiving for women and children.

Students are trained in dealing with women, especially during pregnancy and childbirth. The training begins in laboratories, and then they are trained in health centers, neonatal care units, and pediatric intensive care units.

The teaching staff in the department consists of members with specialization, scientific and practical experiences and graduates of prestigious international universities, who work in line with the university and college philosophy by carrying out theoretical and applied educational tasks, in addition to actively participating in conferences, workshops and seminars inside and outside Iraq.

The branch, as well as the College of Nursing, is keen to establish good relations with other educational institutions, health institutions and nursing associations in Iraq and abroad. At the local and global community levels, by establishing relationships and cooperation programs with local health institutions.

Objectives

The Department of Maternal and pediatric Nursing, represented by the faculty members and staff, aims to follow up and meet human needs, especially women and children, in order to promote and maintain health at the local, regional and global levels, by participating in multiple research focusing on family health and reproductive health issues and participating in scientific activities such as conferences Seminars and scientific research.

1- The Department of Maternal and Neonate Nursing Branch / College of Nursing aims to provide the community with efficient and qualified scientific nursing staff to meet the needs of the community.

2- Providing high quality nursing care in terms of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation to meet the health needs of the individual, family and society.

3- Utilizing the theoretical and practical information derived from the nursing sciences as a basis for logical thinking.

4- Encouraging students through their participation in various scientific activities of intellectual creativity.

5- Enhancing students' scientific and practical skills by enhancing their participation in seminars, conferences, courses and scientific research.

6- Implementation of educational guidance plans for students, according to the vision of the university and the ministry.

7- Providing methodological and source books for the scientific branch
