Chemical Engineering Department

The department was established in 2023. Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that combines knowledge in the fields of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, and engineering principles to develop, design, and improve industrial processes and systems. Chemical engineers play a crucial role in transforming raw materials into valuable products and in designing processes that are more efficient, economical, safe and environmentally friendly.

Fields of work in chemical engineering:
Chemical and petrochemical industries: Design and operation of units for the production of chemicals and petroleum products.
Energy and fuel: developing and improving energy production processes, such as oil refining and biofuel production.
Food industries: developing processes to manufacture and improve the quality of food and beverages.
Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology: Designing processes to produce medicines and biological therapies.
Environment and Sustainability: Developing technologies to treat and manage waste and pollution.
New Materials: Innovating and developing new materials such as polymers, ceramics and composites.

Challenges and innovations:
Improving efficiency and reducing waste: Developing more efficient processes that reduce energy and raw material consumption and reduce waste.
Shifting towards renewable energy: working on technologies to support the use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy.
Nanotechnology and biotechnology: Using advanced technologies to develop new materials and treatments.
Sustainability and the environment: Designing processes that preserve the environment and contribute to environmental sustainability.

Study and qualification:
Studying chemical engineering requires mastery of basic sciences such as chemistry, physics, and mathematics, in addition to a deep understanding of the principles of mechanical, electrical, civil, and administrative engineering. Academic programs provide a combination of theoretical education and practical application.
