Department Overview:


   The Department of Physics is one of the key scientific departments within the College of Education for Pure Sciences. Established in 2012, it comprises a distinguished group of faculty members holding various academic degrees and specializations across the diverse fields of physics.

The department maintains a dynamic and collaborative presence both within and beyond the university. Internally, it engages with other colleges and scientific departments through the teaching of physics, consistently contributing to the academic advancement of the University of Kirkuk. It plays a vital role in delivering contemporary physics education to students of the College of Science (Department of Physics), as well as to students in the Colleges of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

Externally, the department has actively participated in postgraduate instruction, notably for students in the Department of Physics at the College of Science, University of Diyala, and for postgraduate students at the University of Technology. These contributions are made possible through the expertise and dedication of the department’s outstanding faculty.

In terms of research and scholarly projects, the department has demonstrated excellence through interdisciplinary collaboration. Its researchers have successfully partnered with other fields—including medicine, engineering, and pure sciences—to conduct joint supervision on cutting-edge topics aimed at serving societal needs.

Vision:-

   The Department of Physics aspires to be a creative, pioneering, and active part of the local and international level in teaching and development of physics sciences to be a scientific, educational, and professional center. It offers the best learning opportunities and teaching skills that help to prepare creative scientific and educational minds as well as devising ways to deal with the reality of variable education.

Mission: -

   The preparation of educational cadres specialized in the field of physics at a distinguished level consistent with the standards of local and international quality and accreditation equipped with modern technologies as well as ethical and spiritual values ​​to build a society driven by knowledge and science and enrich the minds of future generations and motivate them to think and scientific research and to recognize their impact on the development of societies.

Objectives:-

  • Preparation of scientific and educational cadres equipped with the fundamentals of scientific and technical knowledge to provide qualified teachers scientifically and educational to meet the need of educational institutions.
  • The permanent development of the primary curriculum to suit the requirements of local development programs and the needs of the community and the reality of continuous development of science and education.
  • Focusing on applied scientific research to play a fundamental role in solving the problems of society and supporting researchers and scientific research requirements.
  • Act as an effective and pioneering force to develop all aspects of physics education and its applications locally and internationally.
  • Provide distinguished graduate students in order to contribute effectively in the fields of scientific research
  • Continuing development of faculty members, technicians and administrative staff in institutions of higher education.
  • Follow-up graduates of the college and the continuous evaluation of their performance in the service of society after graduation and the development of future plans to meet the needs of the labor market needs qualitatively and quantitatively.
