Under the patronage of the president of Kirkuk University Assist. Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan and under the supervision of the dean of Kirkuk Medical College Prof. Dr. Sabah Zangana, The CME division at Kirkuk Medical College, in cooperation with the academic professors from the Turkish hospitals (Ajibadam), held a workshop on 06/03/2022 on the latest scientific updates in regards to gastrointestinal cancers and bone marrow transplantation. The workshop started with welcoming the Turkish delegation by the head of CME department of Kirkuk Medical College, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mufeed Akram, then the dean of the college Prof. Dr. Sabah Zangana gave his own speech and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the delegation for their visiting to the college. Then the director of (Ajibadam) Turkish hospitals group in middle-east, Miss. Nour Jamal gave an introduction on the history and the job of these hospitals in which the visiting Turkish delegation worked at. The first seminar delivered by Prof. Dr. Hussein Anjeen (Oncologist). He covered the latest updates in the methods of treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and early diagnosis. The second seminar held by Assist. Prof. Dr. Int Auzaie (Hematologist), who covered the methods of bone marrow transplantation in Turkey. The workshop came out with some recommendations, the most important of which is the necessity to establish a center for bone marrow transplantation in Kirkuk city, as well as the need to perform bone marrow transplantation for Thalassemia patients at an early age, where the success rate is more than 90%.
