The Vision
Superiority in the teaching methods to provide the community with qualified agricultural engineers capable to develop the production of healthy food from the natural resources through sustainable agricultural development accompanied with preserving the environment and community service, and capable to implement agricultural strategies to compete locally and internationally.
The Message
The department program contributes to achieve the college message which aims to discover, publish and apply the knowledge to manage the natural resources in order to provide food and sustainable agricultural development while preserving the environment. The department also prepares qualified agricultural engineers to develop agricultural production and community service through applied research to find out solutions for agricultural problems especially in soil and water resources fields. In addition, to participate in implementation of extension programs to share those information and applied research results and participate with other departments (locally, regionally and internationally) to develop the education and the scientific research.
The Objectives
1) providing graduates for postgraduate studies with theoretical and practical skills in field of soil and water science.
2) Building relations with the other departments, other colleges and research centers as well as with the agriculture ministry, water resources ministry and environment ministry.
3) Developing programs and academic courses to meet the community requirements.
4) Adopting educational courses that focus on the practical skills of the students to prepare them for labor market and continue self-education
in order to:
A. Keeping up with development strategies, and expanding desert and salty soils reclamations, all which require special skills.
B. Enhancing the quality of the newly reclaimed lands and preserving them.
C. Maximizing the yield from soil and water units with rationalizing water consumption and preventing soil and water pollution.
5) Investing information technology to develop education, research and community service.
6) Applying the quality improvement program to enhance the performances of education, research and community service.
7) Developing a strategy for the scientific research related to increase the yield from soil and water units and expanding the agricultural land spaces to meet the community requirements.
8) Collaboration with available specialties and resources in the college, university, research centers and other universities.
9) Encouraging local and international cooperation to develop the education system, scientific research and exchange of experiences.
10) Promoting scientific research for high production sustainable agriculture which are able to compete internationally.
11) Participating in many agricultural and scientific conferences and evaluating agricultural projects.
12) Providing scientific research results and present consults for investors and decision makers.
13) Supporting extension channels, community service and development of rural communities.
