About the department
Based on the importance of the economics department within the departments of the College of Administration and Economics and the absence of such a department at the University of Kirkuk, a study was prepared on opening this department by the staff of the College of Administration and Economics, and in light of it, the department was opened and the admission of students began from the 2015-2016 academic year and by thirty students in Morning studies in the first year and the graduation of the first batch of the department in the academic year 2018-2019.
Keeping pace with development in economic sciences, acquiring skills and applying economic theories to practical reality by preparing specialized scientific staffs with the ability to implement these skills in the fields of administrative and economic work, using the best available resources and within an ethical and creative environment.
Vision of the section
The department seeks to understand the economic relationship between the individual and the environment in order to adapt the current reality of society to the available capabilities and societal requirements.

It is based on three basic pillars: -
First: The educational process: By providing students with an excellent learning environment.
Second: Scientific Research: - Activating scientific research through the participation of faculty members and students in conducting research.
Third: Community Service: - Consolidating relations with state departments and civil society organizations in the field of economic research.

First: Graduating scientific cadres specialized in the field of economic sciences.
Second: Establishing practical workshops and gradual courses in the field of economic sciences.
Third: Promote and expand publishing in reputable local, regional and international magazines with an impact factor.
Paying attention to the scientific and academic dimensions in order to develop the student’s personality.
Reviving high-end values and norms, a sense of citizenship and human rights within the framework of the anti-corruption system.
