The department is preparing the researches and studies that work on vertical expansion of the productivity of the land and the increase in the mechanisms of production of field crops in the governorate. The actual need for the development of the department has been limited to many objectives. The department's teachers work on introducing and developing good genotypes and increasing the activities of agricultural processes to increase the effectiveness of the types and methods of agriculture, while laying the foundations for organic agriculture and integrated control according to the global guidelines. The department adopts the idea of adopting developmental programs with the authorities responsible for agriculture in the province, especially the development of grain and legume cultivation in rain-dependent areas, development and production of high quality cotton as well as strategic crops.

In order to promote the tasks and duties mentioned above, the vision, mission, and objectives of the department were to deliver these tasks and duties to the farmers of the province, especially the planting of strategic crops in order to increase the agricultural density in the fertile and Semi fertile lands.
